Cosmic Degeneracy with Dark Energy Equation of State

چکیده
We discuss a degeneracy between the geometry of the universe and the dark energy equation of state wX which exists in the power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background. In particular, for the case with wX < −1, this degeneracy has interesting implications to a lower bound on wX from observations. It is also discussed how this degeneracy can be removed using current observations of type Ia supernovae.

The dark side of curvature
Geometrical tests such as the combination of the Hubble parameter H(z) and the angular diameter distance dA(z) can, in principle, break the degeneracy between the dark energy equation of state parameter w(z), and the spatial curvature Ωk in a direct, model-independent way. In practice, constraints on these quantities achievable from realistic experiments, such as those to be provided by Baryon ...
متن کاملOn the Determination of Neutrino Masses and Dark Energy Evolution
We discuss the possibilities of the simultaneous determination of the neutrino masses and the evolution of dark energy from future cosmological observations such as cosmic microwave background (CMB), large scale structure (LSS) and the cross correlation between them. Recently it has been discussed that there is a degeneracy between the neutrino masses and the equation of state for dark energy. ...
متن کاملConstraining the Dark Energy Equation of State with Cosmic Voids
Our universe is observed to be accelerating due to the dominant dark energy with negative pressure. The dark energy equation of state (w) holds a key to understanding the ultimate fate of the universe. The cosmic voids behave like bubbles in the universe so that their shapes must be quite sensitive to the background cosmology. Assuming a flat universe and using the priors on the matter density ...
متن کاملDark Energy Search with Supernovae
To determine the nature of dark energy from observational data, it is important that we use model-independent and optimal methods. We should probe dark energy using its density (allowed to be a free function of cosmic time) instead of its equation of state. We should minimize gravitational lensing effect on supernovae by flux-averaging. We need to include complementary data (for example, from t...
متن کاملDark Energy Evolution and the Curvature of the Universe from Recent Observations
We discuss the constraints on the time-varying equation of state for dark energy and the curvature of the universe using observations of type Ia supernovae from Riess et al. and the most recent Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS), the baryon acoustic oscillation peak detected in the SDSS luminous red galaxy survey and cosmic microwave background. Due to the degeneracy among the parameters which desc...
